This week I am going to be reviewing the Fleshlight Vortex. I don’t want to get ahead of myself too much here but, this thing is Awesome!
The Fleshlight Vortex isn’t overly impressive when you look at it. The texture doesn’t appear as if it would be overly stimulating. When compared to some of the other textures, the Vortex looks pretty tame. The Vortex does feature something that not many of the other Fleshlights have (especially at the time of the Vortex’s release) and that is an inner canal that changes diameter. Since the release of the Vortex, Fleshlight has introduced quite a few textures that feature a canal that changes sizes, especially in the Fleshlight Girls line of toys, but the Vortex was one of the first. The Vortex is available with your choice of orifice. The choices are Lady (vagina), butt, mouth and cheeks. Mine is the Lady. If you’ve never seen a Fleshlight in person before you may be surprised by the size of it. While not huge, it’s probably bigger than you expect. The Fleshlight is approximately 10 inches in length and 4 inches in diameter. It’s not so big that it’s ungainly but it still may be a bit of a shock. The good thing about the size is that it should accommodate men of all lengths.
There are two parts to all Fleshlights, the case and the insert. The Vortex insert, like all Fleshlights, is made of patented Real Feel Super Skin material. This material is a company secret and is not used in any other line of male masturbators. I can tell you that it feels quite life-like, retains heat very well, is very soft and extremely stretchy. It’s also Phthalate free. The case is a simple plastic case made to look like a flashlight (hence the name). The case has a cap on either end which screws on and off. The cap that covers the orifice is used just for storage but the cap on the bottom of the toy has an important function. When you tighten or loosen the cap on the bottom of the case, you adjust the amount of suction that the toy develops while you use it. This can make all the difference in the world! For me personally, with the Vortex, I like the cap quite loose. I find the Vortex feels better without a lot of suction. This is purely a personal thing though and experimentation is highly encouraged.
So, now the important part. How does the Fleshlight Vortex feel? In a word, amazing. While I am not sure if the Vortex has de-throned the STU, it’s awfully close! I am not sure what it is about the Vortex that makes it feel so good, but wow, it sure does. The best word I can use to describe the sensation is “soft”. It feels like soft, luxurious, silky pillows are massaging you as you slide in an out, and the feeling is marvelous. I really, really like this toy.
To get the most out of your Vortex, I highly recommend heating it up first. To do this, fill your sink with some hot water and let the sleeve soak for ~10 minutes. While you can use the Fleshlight at room temperature, and it still feels good, the experience is so much better when the Fleshlight is heated up. Do not use your microwave or boiling water with your Fleshlight! You could damage it or yourself. You will also need to use lube. I have found that the Vortex is quite good at retaining lube. The ridges inside do a good job of keeping the lube in place. You want to make sure that you only use water based lubricant with your Fleshlight, as an oil based lubricant will slowly destroy your Fleshlight.
My only real complaint with the Fleshlight Vortex is the same complaint that I have with every Fleshlight, prep and clean up time. To get the best results, you should really heat the Fleshlight up first, and this takes 10-15 minutes of time. This kind of kills the mood if you’re just feeling horny and want to get off. Clean up isn’t too bad either, just take your Fleshlight to the sink and run water through the inner canal liberally. Then allow to dry. After awhile you may find your Fleshlight feeling a bit sticky. To restore the regular soft feel, sprinkle a liberal amount of corn starch on the sleeve and then shake off the excess powder. While the cleanup process isn’t hard, I always feel like I should clean it right after use, and sometimes I just want to lie down and pass out.
